PSO2 – April 20th Balance Changes

I’m still peeking around the corner at PSO2 and… there’s balance patch notes! A lot of them.

The Wired Lance changes are fairly significant, considering it was mostly relegated to Holding Current. Still, I’m not sure if it solves the underlying issue of short AoEs and over-reliance on grabs. They take so long to do damage that the enemy usually moves by then.

The Twin Dagger changes give a weapon that’s good at killing bosses and has a lot of redundant attacks slightly better redundant options for killing bosses.

Launcher changes are good and Teching changes are nice I guess.

Jet Boots changes don’t fix the underlying problem that Jet Boots DPS is too much effort for too little reward.

In all, this is an overly conservative balance pass that doesn’t really fix a lot of fundamental issues, like the lack of good melee main class skills not called “Critical Strike” or “Limit Break”, Twin Daggers’ lack of AoE, Gunslash’s poor anti-boss ability, Jet Boots’ lack of range and PP management, Dual Blades’ low damage outside of Photon Blade Fever.

Still, free reset pass so I can’t complain.

Hunter

  • Wired Lance normal attacks and step attacks will have less hitstop.
  • The Wired Lance PA, Bind Through will have higher damage.
  • The Wired Lance PA, Grapple Charge will have an earlier Just Attack window. Also, it will do more damage to enemies with super armor(?). (lit. more damage to enemies that aren’t held)
  • The Wired Lance PA, Heavenly Fall, will have an earlier Just Attack window on the ground.
  • The Wired Lance PA, Other Spin, will have its maneuverability adjusted when holding an enemy.
  • The Wired Lance PA, Air Pocket Swing, will have higher damage and an extended Just Attack window.
  • The Wired Lance PA, Wild Round, will have an earlier Just Attack window, and adjusted descent timing.
  • The Wired Lance PA, Adept Spin, will have reduced PP cost.
  • Pressing Shift after a Partisan PA will restore PP normally.
  • The Partisan PA, Slide Shaker, will have reduced PP cost.
  • The Partisan PA, Speed Rain, will have reduced PP cost and adjusted Just Attack timing.
  • The Partisan PA, Trick Rave, will have increased damage and attack range, and reduced PP cost.
  • The Partisan PA, Bandersnatch, will have increased damage and adjusted descent timing.

Fighter

  • The Twin Dagger PA, Raging Waltz, be partially faster. Also, Gear gain when performed on the ground, will be adjusted.
  • The Twin Dagger PA, Shoot Polka, will have increased damage and reduced PP cost.
  • The Twin Dagger PA, Facet Folia, will have increased damage and initial attack range, as well as reduced PP cost.
  • The Twin Dagger PA, Fall Nocturne, will have increased damage.
  • The Double Saber PA, Scissor Edge, will have increased damage and adjusted descent timing.
  • The Double Saber PA, Rumbling Moon, will have increased damage and Gear gain, and reduced descent timing.

Ranger

  • Launcher’s first and secondĀ  normal attacks will have earlier Just Attack windows. Also, normal attack descent timing will be adjusted.
  • The customized Rifle PA, Homing Emission Type-0, will have reduced PP cost.
  • The Launcher PA, Concentrate One, will have reduced PP cost.
  • The Launcher PA, Cracker Bullet, will have increased area of effect and damage.
  • The Launcher PA, Zero Distance, will have increased area of effect.
  • The Launcher PA, Rodeo Drive, will have reduced PP cost.
  • The Launcher PA, Crazy Smash, will be faster.
  • The Launcher PA, Flame Bullet, will have increased area of effect.
  • The Launcher PA, Cosmos Breaker, will have reduced PP cost.
  • The Launcher PA, Sphere Eraser, will have increased damage and reduced PP upkeep cost.

Force

  • Rods will have an earlier Just Attack window after casting Techniques.

Techer

  • Wands will have an earlier Just Attack window after casting Techniques.
  • Wand normal attacks will have adjusted descent timing.
  • The class skill, “Wand Lovers”, will remain active after reloading a quest from the campship.

Bouncer

  • Jet Boots’ normal attacks and step attack will have reduced hitstop.
  • Jet Boots will have an earlier Just Attack window after casting Techniques.
  • The Jet Boots PA, Strike Gust, will have reduced charge time. Also, the followup will have a blowaway effect(?). As well, the followup will be step cancellable.
  • The Jet Boots PA, Gran Wave, will be step cancellable.
  • The Jet Boots PA, Vinto Gigue, will be able to change the direction of the kick followup. Also, damage below Gear 3 will be increased.
  • The duration of Rapid Boost will be extended

Gunslash

  • The customized Gunslash PA, Tri-Impact Type-0, will have its damage split adjusted. It will do less Striking damage and more Ranged damage.
  • The Gunslash PA, Aiming Shot, will have reduced charge time, reduced PP cost, increased projectile speed and range.
  • The Gunslash PA, Thrillerplode, will have reduced PP cost.

Due to these changes, an All Skill Reset Pass will be handed out.
